Vaddio, the leading manufacturer and OEM distributor of specialty PTZ cameras and high-end camera control systems, provided Platt Design Group of Sierra Madre, Calif. with two WallVIEW PRO 300 camera systems intended for live image magnification (IMAG) at Irvine Baptist Church.
"The Vaddio process is great," stated Phillip Kim, director of client relations for Platt Design. "We’ve used them before and we’ll use them again. We are especially excited for the new Vaddio HD-18 cameras. They are a great value for the price and we anticipate using them in our designs."
Irvine Baptist Church, an established Korean Congregation located in Irvine, Calif., required an overall renovation of its look and production capabilities, including video capture and projection. Each week Irvine offers two types of services - one is traditional, with orchestra and choirs, while the second is more contemporary, featuring a musical ensemble with both acoustic and electronic instruments. The new installation was not only intended to expand the overall capabilities of weekly services, but to provide opportunities for special events as well.
The live images are captured with two Vaddio WallVIEW PRO 300 camera systems using two Sony BRC-300 PTZ wall-mounted cameras. "Sony makes the cameras, but Vaddio makes the equipment that integrates remote functionality," explains Daniel Bae of Platt Design. "They make an adapter that handles power, video signal and remote control, all through three CAT 5 cables. It’s perfect for this application." One camera is mounted in the center of the back wall to capture the stage area, while the other is located upstage right, providing an audience shot.
The Vaddio RM-BR300 bundle remote control joystick for pan, tilt and zoom is located at the front of house, along with a Roland V-440HD video mixer. All camera control and program switching is done with a single operator, with the content alternating between graphics/text playout and live action IMAG.
